German Meatballs

3 lbs. ground beef
1 (12oz.) can evaporated milk
2 cups quick oats
2 eggs
1 cup onions, chopped
1 teaspoon chili powder
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon garlic powder
3 cups ketchup
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 cup onions, chopped
1-1/2 cups brown sugar
1 teaspoon monosodium glutamate
1/2 teaspoon liquid smoke

Directions: Mix ground beef, evaporated milk, quick oats, eggs, onions, chili powder, salt and garlic powder together. Shape into golf size balls (about 50). Place in large layer cake pan, 1 layer only. To prepare sauce mix together ketchup, garlic powder, onions, brown sugar, monosodium glutamate and liquid smoke. Pour on meatballs. Bake at 350°F for 45 minutes covered with foil. Remove foil and bake an additional 15 minutes.

Notes: This family favorite can be divided, frozen and used as needed.
