Soft Molasses Cookies

1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup shortening
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup molasses
2 eggs
4 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 1/4 teaspoons baking soda
2 1/4 teaspoons ginger
1 1/2 teaspoons cloves
1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon

Directions: In a large bowl, cream together butter, shortening, and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in molasses and eggs, set mixture aside. In another bowl combine dry ingredients and blend with a wire whisk. Gradually stir dry ingredients into creamed mixture. Form into 1 inch balls and roll in sugar. Bake at 350°F for 11 minutes. Do not overbake.
