Cheesecake Cookies

5 tablespoons butter
1/3 cup brown sugar, packed
1 cup flour
1/4 cup walnuts, chopped
1 (8 oz.) package cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
2 tablespoons milk
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions: Beat butter for 30 seconds, add brown sugar and beat until fluffy. Beat in flour and nuts. Set aside 1 cup mixture. Press remaining mixture into bottom of ungreased 8x8 inch baking pan. Bake in 350°F oven 12 minutes. Beat together cream cheese and sugar. Mix in egg, milk, lemon juice and vanilla. Pour over baked layer. Sprinkle reserved butter mixture over top. Bake in 350°F for 25 minutes. Cool. Cut into bars. Store, covered, in refrigerator. Makes 28 bars.

Notes: For a decorative touch, you can cut these rich bars in triangular shapes.
