Jello Pudding

1 (large) can evaporated milk
1/3 cup sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt
2 1/2 cups vanilla wafers, crushed
13 oz. gelatin (any flavor)
1 1/4 cup boiling water

Directions: Chill milk overnight, next day beat milk until stiff, dissolve gelatin in water, add sugar and salt. Pour into bowl and refrigerate until partially set. Add whipped milk into gelatin and mix well. (Do not let the gelatin set too long or it will be hard to mix). Spread 1/2 of wafers into pan, pour gelatin mixture on top, then sprinkle the rest of the wafers on top. Keep in the refrigerator.

Notes: My mother-in-law gave me this recipe 50 years ago. My family still uses it for special occasions.
